Stop Missing Freelance Gigs Buried in Your Inbox (I Built an AI for It)

Let’s be honest: how many times has a great client email landed in your inbox… only to get buried under job alerts, newsletters, and promos? By the time you see it again — the slot’s already filled. 😩

This happened to me a lot. So instead of just regretting it, I had Claude build my own “job inbox filter.” Here’s what it does — and how you can build it too.

The problem: you’re not short on leads — you’re drowning in them

Your inbox isn’t actually short on job leads. The problem is that the good ones drown with the junk. And the usual “solution” — bots that auto-apply to 100 jobs — just gets you ignored or banned. Spammy. That’s not what we want.

The answer: inbound filtering, not outbound spam

Instead of applying to everything, we just filter what’s already coming to you — with a quality gate. Here’s the assistant Claude built:

• 🔎 Reads one Gmail folder (job leads) every day
• ✅ “Good Opportunity” — $30–40/hr and no agency
• 🟡 “Manual Check” — $15–29/hr (borderline, maybe negotiable)
• 💬 Pings the good ones to my Slack — automatically, 6 PM daily
• 🔁 Has dedup so the same job doesn’t repeat

That quality gate? It’s like a bouncer — only letting in gigs worth my time. My floor is $35/hr as a freelancer, so that’s what I taught it.

The real part (not perfect right away)

I left the bug in the video — the same job got pinged twice because the scan repeated. I showed how I fixed it (dedup). Because that’s a real build — not always smooth, but quick to fix. 😅
